Q: How long does it take exterior paint to dry?

    in Question for the Professionals

A: The simple answer is it can take anywhere from 2 to 9 hours depending on the weather and humidity. A total of 4 hours dry time is usually required with water based Acrylic Latex paints. This includes dry time on multiple types of surfaces such as vinyl siding, aluminum siding, brick, etc.

We typically do not suggest painting exterior when it is close to or around 32F or 0C due to the paint not being able to adhere properly to surfaces and a mixture of more or less pigment in certain areas when the paint is applied. Please see the information below for your typical paint information for application!
